Flooring is an important part of your home and it’s easy to clean for the most part. However, there is one type that some people let get a little dirtier than others. That being the ever popular hardwood floors. The reason why many people let this go is because it’s harder to denote when these are dirty compared to other flooring options. For example, light carpeting can pick up dirt and look very bad if you don’t keep up with it. Hardwood floors however should be taken care of, cleaned, and focused on in a lot of ways otherwise you’re going to find that there are a few things that can cause serious problems.
Clearing Flooring First
Before you can get into a deep cleaning option you’ll want to do some minor maintenance. The main focal point of course is to sweep and remove any dust and debris that accumulates on the floor. Even if you don’t see a large amount of dust you’ll be surprised by how much can be removed with a light sweeping. You don’t want to use a hard broom or anything like that because they can scratch the surface.
Mopping The Floor
Once you have cleared the light debris and the dust that is on your flooring you’ll want to lightly mop. Mopping is an easy option to work with and you can easily work with spraying just a small amount of liquid on the floor then use a mop to clean it up. You do not want to soak the floor you do not want to use too much water and you don’t want to do anything that is going to cause any sort of issue on the flooring itself. Too much water will cause the surface to warp which is not ideal.
Maintaining The Floor
You can maintain your floor by cleaning up spills fast and making sure that you don’t walk on the wood without soft shoes. You will want to also avoid using wax, oil, vinegar, or anything harsh on your flooring. This could cause a serious problem with the surface. If you find cleaners that are safe for pets and your flooring you can use them but make sure that you test them out on a small surface before going throughout the entire home. Keeping your flooring maintain, clean, and clear, is not tough, it just requires a bit of time and patience to work through.
